Checklist for your move

A list makes a move easier. Here is a simple one for a move within Qatar.
Before you sign
- Visit the home and check the air conditioning, water pressure, hot water and appliances.
- Make sure the lease is written and signed, and ask whether it is registered with the Ministry of Municipality.
Before moving day
- Book movers and check the building's rules on moving times and lift use.
- Ask Kahramaa to connect electricity and water in your name. You usually need your Qatar ID, the lease and the electricity number of the home.
- Arrange internet with Ooredoo or Vodafone Qatar.
- At your old home, ask Kahramaa for a final reading and a clearance certificate, and pay the last bill.
On moving day
- Walk through the home with the landlord or agent. Note any damage in writing, with dated photos, and keep a copy.
- Photograph the electricity and water meters.
After the move
- Update your national address with the Ministry of Interior, in the Metrash app or on its website.
- Give your new address to your employer, your bank and your children's school.
- Keep the lease, receipts and move-in notes together until you leave.
